Chris and Mark Newman - together again (again!)

Chris Newman is a guitar flat-picker extraordinaire – probably the fastest around. He and older brother Mark Newman, teacher and no mean performer in his own right, gave such a brilliant performance together at the Hinckley ACT last year, that we asked for a return visit and they enjoyed doing their first gig together so much that they agreed.

Mark and Chris Newman at Hinckley ACTThe first time around...
Chris and Mark first played together at the Hinckley ACT a year ago, playing as a duo as well as presenting a number of solo tunes.
Read more about them both at the Old Bridge Music web site.

Chris Newman
may well be the best trad/acoustic/folk/ Argentinian tango/ mazurka player in the world. Or, put another way, he is the music’s best guitarist.
He and fellow musician, Maire ni Chathasaigh on harp have defined and refined their positions in the music to the point where they have become iconic.

Mark Newman
has an ever-increasing band of admirers:-
"...this evening was particularly special....wonderful versions of Blues classics..... faultless and beautiful interpretations of more traditional Celtic pieces....humorous songs....brilliant technique always served the melody of the piece.....a very special evening from a very special player." Swan Folk, Loughborough.
