Opening night!

5th March 2008 saw some of the finest guitarists from Leicestershire and Warwickshire supporting our Launch Concert - the standard of guitar playing was simply sensational!

Interestingly, our website designer Phil Briggs opened the evening concert with a stunning display of Classical and Flamenco instrumentals, all composed by himself!

Steve Hicks plays guitar at Hinckley ACT in LeicestershireOne musician invited and specially recommended by Bob Tibbetts was Steve Hicks, luthier & guitarist (pictured). Steve, based in Leicester brought the evening to a climax combining superb control of his six string, hand built, Steve Hicks Guitar. With a wonderful voice and amusing and engaging personality, it is clear Steve will become a regular guest at our club.

John Montague, rhythm guitar, and his trio, the High Sierras with Peter Turnpenney on Lead Guitar and Martin Burch on slide guitar” bottle necking” shook down the PA System.

Rob Armstrong once again proved that he didn’t need a PA sound system to project his hand crafted guitars and voice to the whole room.

Dave Cooper of Dando Shaft fame entertained us with a special electronic guitar with built in special effects and memory.

Nigel Beck equipped with both 6 and 12 string guitars enthralled us with his own instrumentals, love songs and renditions of Leo Kottke’s “Ice Fields” and “Gewebergearbietet”.

Once again Bob Tibbetts surprised our clubs instrumentalists by launching for his First CD not one but TWO CD’S: “Rum Do” & “Lix n Pix n Trix”. Bob quietly informed us that he has another 2 and a half hours of compositions, (enough to fill 2 more CDs). We plan to review in great detail all CDs launched by our club members.
