Club night - Wednesday 2nd July
Not one, not two, but THREE sets of performers AND their parents! Is there something in the water...?
A very popular duo on the night were Tony Dukes (master harmonica player) and his son Nick (a very accomplished and versatile guitarist) who played a number of wonderful blues and traditional English and Irish instrumental pieces.
One of the highlights of the evening was the first appearance at the club of singer / songwriter Irene Rae (pictured, right). Her father and manager was, as ever in attendance. Irene performed a compelling combination of original and cover versions in her usual intense style.
The other performer who brought along a parent was debutante Felicity Briggs (pictured below on the left) who performed three original songs backed by her father Phil and bass player Laurence Skermer, both from regular Hinckley ACT contributors Labyrinth.
Labyrith will be playing again on the 10th September on a Concert Night featuring renowned guitarist Dave Kirk.
First time visitor to the Hinckley ACT, Pete McMahon of Sutton Coldfield expressed his enjoyment of the evening by email to the club management team:-
"Thanks again Keith and Pam. You have access to some exceptional talent. I look forward to seeing you all again in the future."
Club nights are held on the first Wednesday of each month and provide an entertaining variety of styles and genres for audiences.
The house PA system is of the highest quality and facilities for performers and the audience are comfortable and relaxing.
There are a phenomenal number of accomplished and original local performers, who are showcased at these events. The result is a relaxing evening with musicians, singers and audience interacting, having fun and enjoying themselves.
Visitors and members are encouraged on club nights to bring their instruments such as guitars, mandolins, violins, ukuleles, banjos and harmonicas: on arrival all are invited to enter their name on a club night play list.
