Bob Tibbetts - local hero!

Wednesday 11th August brought one of Hinckley's favorite sons back to the ACT: concert goers were able to enjoy a stunning combination of his Bob’s own compositions and excellent covers – particularly of JJ Cale songs.

Bob Tibbetts is one of the mainstays of the Hinckley Act, contributing a wonderful array of original acoustic guitar pieces.

"I compose and play acoustic guitar instrumentals, which have many influences" he says.

"Whilst I have always played "fingerstyle" acoustic guitar, I have also played electric guitar in rock bands. In addition, I have always enjoyed listening to many types of music, and instruments, including the piano.

"So, my guitar pieces are influenced by musical areas that include blues, jazz, folk, rock, and classical - although my music is actually none of these. I hope it is my own unique style, (which I'm afraid I don't have a name for!).

Bob states that inspiration also comes from many sources, but the main one is the sheer sound that comes off the guitar. It is a truly unique instrument - refined enough to produce a full sound, but crude enough to get a lot of feeling into in the way it is played.
