Nigel Beck - emotive fingerstyle guitar.
Wednesday 12th May brought the welcome return of local hero Nigel Beck to the Hinckley ACT. Alex Bett was supporting.
About Nigel
Heavily influenced by the likes of Leo Kottke, Pierre Bensusan, Eric Roche and Antonio Forceone, Nigel Beck plays fingerstyle guitar with a propulsive beat and at other times with the emotional sensitivity of the old masters.
The power of 12 strings speaking with one musical voice is an emotional experience to be savoured and enjoyed. Both original and pieces by Leo Kottke will be featured in the evenings programme. In contrast, taking a cue from Pierre B and Eric Roche, 6 string pieces are light and delicate with a hint of classical guitar, exploiting DADGAD and Dropped D tunings.
Mix all of this in with a sprinkling of both original and covered songs that will make you smile and reflect, you will feel that you have been taken on a musical journey by a compelling and entertaining performer.
Nigel will be performing favourites from his “First Move” album plus new material from his forthcoming album to be released this summer.
Booking and venue details
The entrance fee for the evening was £5 for members and £6 for non-members. The event started at 8 pm, with doors opening at 7.30 p.m.
